Any information or comments, suggestions are not intended to direct or guide any reader to modify, change or adjust their care in any way. It is provided solely for informational, educational purposes.

This information is provided at no cost and with no expectations for those who choose to come to our website and read or listen to what we have written or say, wishing to know and understand more about health, fertility, before a vas reversal or sperm retrieval and aftercare as well as decision-making and techniques, so that they can use this information to contribute to their own foundation of information when talking to their own doctors about their care for intelligent, shared decision making. This information is only our opinion and is accurate to the best of our knowledge at the time it is written and is for general information only. It is not intended to be specific or relevant for any individual patient, care, doctor or clinic. There are no guarantees about the accuracy, safety or relevance of any information. Because of the constantly evolving nature of medicine, patients should rely only on their own personal doctors for the most up-to-date and patient specific information, guidance and care.

This information and communications are not intended to be a substitute for professional medical help or advice by each person’s own qualified and licensed physician or health care provider, nor is it intended to replace or contradict advice given by each person’s own doctors. Because only each patient’s doctor knows him best, any and all decisions concerning a person’s own medical care should only be made between that person and his doctor. We strongly recommend that all patients follow their doctor’s advice. No one should never change their care, stop a medication or treatment or start a treatment, medication or supplement based on what is written here or on any forum without each person discussing that person’s care directly with their own doctors or other health care provider that know their health and care.

Discussions and recommendations about of lifestyle, health issues, diet, medications, vitamins and supplements, testing and results, preparation, techniques, decision-making, lab tests and results and follow-up care are a simple review and do not include an appropriate nor comprehensive review of the benefits, pros and cons, risks and potential interactions and complications specific to anyone or any treatment. This advice should be obtained only by talking directly with each person’s own doctors and pharmacist.

Although we make every effort to provide up-to-date and accurate, timely information, there are no guarantees or promises made or implied regarding the accuracy or timeliness of any content, discussions, opinions, blogs and care written or discussed on this website or in any digital, virtual, live, printed or face-to-face format.

Discussions and comments about doctors, specialties, types of doctors, or other health professionals training, decision-making, techniques or care are purely generic and is in no way intended to refer to or reflect on the skills, qualifications or professionalism of a specific or particular doctor, clinic or facility. Any similarities are purely coincidental. No identification with actual persons, living or dead is intended or should be inferred. Medicine is an evolving, dynamic process with widely differing opinions from leading subject-matter experts and is not only common but an expected and in fact, necessary part of the evolution process so that how we care for patients each day is better than the day before. Any disagreement with another doctors opinions, techniques, decision-making, advice or care is not and should NOT be construed, inferred or considered an overt or implied attack or challenge of any doctor, center or clinic’s opinions, reputation, recommendations, knowledge, skills, training, experience, patient care, decision-making or advice. There is no absolute correct right or wrong in medicine. Doctor’s understand that our advice and care is only what seems best at that moment by that patients’ doctor, who is the only provider who knows his or her own life’s experiences, training, education and knowledge of the details of that patient.

Though we feel that what we think and know is the best way to care for our patients, and that those doctors with the highest levels of advanced training will usually provide the best care, the truth is that though this may be true for many, there will always be highly trained urologists that may not be technically skilled or gifted microsurgeons, or may have different opinions about decision-making and patient care. Just the same, there are, I am certain, those with minimal to no urologic or microsurgery vasectomy reversal training who do not believe or follow any of what I believe is the right way and so provide their patients excellent success rates with wonderful care. The bottom line is that in medicine, with each doctor and provider being so different it is up to every patient to do their own research and decide for themselves which doctor is best for their needs.

PURPOSE
The purpose of this site is to provide state-of-the-art information based on expert opinion so that men and women considering a vasectomy reversal can use this as a foundation of information with their own research in conversations with their own doctors, health care providers and others, to help make an informed, intelligent shared decision. As much as we hope many couples choose ICVR, we realize that there are many excellent skilled doctors around the world that perform vasectomy reversals and our desire is that if couples don’t come to ICVR, then at least they will use this information to select the best doctor for them that will fit their needs and give them the highest chances for success with excellent care and so achieve the best outcomes.

In addition to the pages on this website, we often refer or suggest to patients or others in on-line chats, message boards, by phone, email, Zoom, Skype, Face Time or other digital or print platforms or posts the names of other doctors or suggest other doctors, physician extenders, physical therapists, nurses, clinics, labs, pharmacists, centers and institutions in any and all formats. We make no promises or imply the qualifications, knowledge, skill, expertise, benefits, quality or cost of services provided, moral and ethical standards or care outcomes of care if a patient chooses to see and undergo care by one of these other doctors, labs, clinics or institutions.

TRANSPARENCY and TIMELINESS
Every effort has been made to be honest and above-board with the information provided. Because of the nature of medical information, what is factual today can be different and even incorrect tomorrow. Plus, much of what we do in medicine is based on a consensus of expert opinion from the thought leaders in the field. What this means is that there may be a top expert who disagrees or has recommendations with different interpretation of the data and literature, based on his or her own training, experience and understanding of the literature. This does not mean that someone is right or wrong, or are we ever suggesting that another is right or wrong. It just means that there is not now or will there ever be an absolute consensus by experts.

In medicine, even top doctors know that in every field, there will never be 100% agreement by the top subject matter experts. The hope is that expert opinion will evolve to have a shared answer or recommendation, based on evidence-based facts and discussions, that patients can then use to discuss their own personal situation with their own doctor, the only doctor that should be guiding and providing their care.

SO WHO IS AN EXPERT?
Bottom line, it is up to each person to do their own research and decide who is an expert, and which doctor is best for them. Some well respected and highly trained doctors may have poor surgical skills or decision-making and others with no or minimal training may be gifted surgeons with amazing outcomes. We believe that it is wise for all patients to do their own research and due diligence to find those the doctor that they believe will give their patients the best chances for success, quality care and the lowest risks for complications.

PRIVACY POLICY
No one will find anyone more concerned and obsessed about maintaining privacy than Dr. Marks and Dr. Burrows. None of our patient’s personal information, email, telephone numbers, addresses, etc. is ever shared, sold or used by anyone outside of ICVR, for any reason. We choose to still rely on paper charts, so no one has remote internet or cloud access to personal care details and care information that can be illegally accessed. Our patient demographics and an extensive database are kept securely on-line with limited access via the cloud, in an encrypted secure format.

RESEARCH
It is important that all of our patients know that we do clinical research on blinded accumulated data to gain new information to try to improve our own patient care and for to improve the care for others through research, data analysis, presentations or publication. If we work with any outside doctors, students, universities, institutional review boards or statisticians, then all personally identifiable information (such as name, date of birth, etc.) is removed and not included in shared data, maintaining every patient’s complete and strict privacy and anonymity. At no point can anyone tell which patients are or are not included in the raw data.
