“Patient Thoughts, 29 Years After Vasectomy and ICVR” (video transcript, edited)
“Male: I was about 29 years up on my vasectomy and when Michelle called around to see if we could find anybody that would be able to do that for us, we met a lot of resistance. Why don’t we tell them about that?
Michelle: Dr. Marks office was the one that, well for one they returned our phone calls all the way back to Phoenix and they sent us all the literature and had us read that, followed up if we had any questions. I was probably most impressed by that. We knew there was a risk in me having a child this late but I wanted children all my life.
Male: When I had my vasectomy originally, I told them [inaudible 0:49-51] permanent and he did, she thought but he did a good job. There wasn’t a lot of scarred tissue and important is Dr. Marks was able to think totally repair one side. I think the second side was real questionable. [Inaudible 1:07-09] were low. I think a lot of it depends on the skill of surgeon; especially the surgeon that’s doing the reversal.
Dr. Marks: Our success rate is good. We have anywhere between 90-95% of our patients will have adequate sperm count and we have some men are 20, 25, 30 years out with good counts and some babies too. The thing that makes us special, it allows us to do reversals on people that most doctors wouldn’t do is that we honestly believe that we can provide a service that most don’t do. We’re not a factory. We’ll only do one a day and we try to select the people who are good candidates. The thing that I think makes us a little bit different than most of the other vasectomy reversal surgeons of the country is that we care.
Male 2: Our work is in the medical arena and some physicians really recommended Dr. Marks because of the number of procedures that he had performed historically. I believe I checked with a person who’s the manager of an ambulatory surgery unit and he recommended Dr. Marks finally also.
Male 1: There are a few surgeons I understand that are really talented at this, I know Dr. Marks is one. I think the statistics don’t apply in cases like this. Maybe in general they do but not when a person has this quality of care given. I think that it brought me from my 10% up to a 100%.”
